Chives

Allium schoenoprasum

Description:
A hardy, fast growing, clumping herb with pretty pink flowers.

Size:
 Up to 30cm (h)

Position:
Full - part sun

Seed:
Sow in Spring to late Summer

Care:
Prune regularly to stimulate new leaf growth. Every few years in early Spring, chives benefit from being dug up and split (use a shovel or a knife) into a few new plants to reinvigorate the plant.  For best results, feed with a liquid fertiliser (like 'Powerfeed') once every 7-10 days. If planting dill in the ground, incorporate compost into the soil. If planting in a pot, be sure to use good quality potting mix.

Uses:
Culinary. Useful for dishes that require a slightly milder onion flavour. Flowers are edible and are fantastic in salads or as a garnish.

Available sizes:
Punnets from
10cm pots
14cm pots
20cm pots

Please note that plants are often subject to seasonal availability and growers' stocking levels.
