Syzquium 'Big Red'

Syzygium australe 'Big Red'

Size:
Height to 6m, width to 2.5m if not pruned.

Position:
Full sun to part shade.

Care:

Plant in well drained soil and fertilise in Spring with slow release native fertiliser. Prone to psyllids which can easily be controlled with an insecticide - see us in store for details. Will tolerate dry conditions once established.

Uses:

Creates an excellent, fast growing upright hedge or small tree with attractive bright red foliage for which it is aptly named. Regular pruning encourages flushes of stunning new growth for brilliant display. Fluffy white flowers are borne in Spring, followed by attractive purple berries in Autumn. Unwanted berries can be avoided by pruning just after flowering. Popular for pruning into topiary or standards.
